I call these drawings my Metamorophis drawings.

The first one came through during the LA fires, I had so much anxiety that I needed to put it somewhere.

I sat down to sketch (sometimes, somehow, I forget how helpful it is for me to just sit down and do art for myself) and didn’t have any references or ideas and just let my hand do what it wanted to do.

After it was complete I looked at my first drawing. I saw the build of something small and yet life giving, grow and change upwards and then towards the top of the drawing, it had turned into something completely new.

I had internally felt my helpless sorrowful feelings change into a way of understanding why natural disasters and events happen. From a birth to death, for ultimately a renewal.

A bittersweet, brutal + beautiful way of destruction to new life.
